The competition task visually
The Task:
1. The task of the robotics competition is to build a robot that would pass all gates along the right path in the labyrinth and would find and mark the dangerous objects (hereafter mines) on the given competition field.
2. The robot starts from the predetermined area. There is a labyrinth between the starting area and the mines.
3. The mechanical connection of the robot with any object outside the area is forbidden. It is also forbidden for a person to interfere in the control of the robot during the competition with the help of any connection.
4. The competition time is the time that is given to the robot to pass through the track and it is 10 minutes. If needed, the team may remove the robot from the competition field during their turn before the competition time is up, but only when the team has the permission of the judge to do that.
5. The robot that marks the most number of mines during the competition time (10 min) is the winner.
The Competition Field:
6. The competition field is a 4x4 field. The starting area of 50x50 cm is in one of the corners of the front side of the competition field.
7. There is one path for passage and several dead ends. The width of all paths in the labyrinth is at least 49 cm. The height of the walls of the labyrinth and the barriers surrounding the competition field is 10 cm. The walls of the labyrinth are linked in several places with strengtheners (like arches). The height in the middle of the strengtheners at the beginning and at the end of the labyrinth is (40±1) cm and the height of the other strengtheners is (50±1) cm. The radius of all the upper corners of the passage way is 20±1 cm.
8. All walls of the labyrinth paths are parallel to the front side of the competition field or at right angles to it.
9. The entries on the side where the start area of the labyrinth is located, are 1 ±0,1 m away from the front side and are on the parallel line with the front side, but might not be placed side by side.
10. The entries on the side where the mines of the labyrinth are located, are 3±0,1 m away from the front side and are on the parallel line with the front side, but might not be placed side by side.
11. The labyrinth is formed of detachable walls and the final shape of the labyrinth will be determined at the competition. A training configuration will be set up for trainings.
12. The path for the passage of the labyrinth is without bifurcation.
13. The walls of the path for passage of the labyrinth are black and the other walls and the barriers are white. The colour of the strengthening arches is undefined.
14. The robot cannot move over the walls or the barriers of the labyrinth.
15. The ground of the field is a floor of a room where a floor-covering of light colour and a smooth surface (that is available according to possibilities) is placed. The covering can be unfurled.
16. The mines are metal cylinders with closed ends and with diameter of 85±2 mm and with the height (from edge to edge) of 52±5 mm (e.g. cans of fruit or pineapple compotes without labels). There are 4 mines on the competition field.
17. The mines are located on the other side of the labyrinth as seen from the front side, so that at least a 50 cm wide path for passage from one mine to get to the other mine (between the labyrinth and mines) is guaranteed, and at least 25 cm between the mines and the barriers of the field. The mines are fixed to the floor-covering. The exact location of the mines is determined at the competition.
18. The robot must mark every mine with a separate sign that is placed on top of the mine. The mine is considered to be marked when at the end of the turn (or after the competition time is up or after the robot has been removed from the competition field) the sign is in contact with the upper surface of the mine or its upper edge.
Requirements for the robots and the marking signs:
19. The robot must completely (including the projections of the manipulators etc. equipments) fit in the starting area that is a 50x50 cm square.
20. At least one side of the sign must cover a square with the measurements of 4x4 cm and none of the three measurements should be bigger than 15 cm (i.e. the third measurement is optional). The robot takes the signs with it from the start. The robot can carry maximum four signs. The robot or the signs cannot ruin the competition field or the objects outside the field.
21. It is forbidden to place any objects (except the robot) on the competition field and on the surrounding field within 1 m range from the barriers of the field. The team members can be behind the front side barrier of the competition field or in the spectator area.
22. Auxiliary tools must not block the view of he spectators on the competition field.
