Here's Alexandros S. Kouris, Computer Engineer Project Manager at Robotics Club, University of Patras sharing his thoughts.
"Our participation at Robotex'15 Competition was a great challenge for us since it was our first time we would develop different algorithmic techniques for line following in cluttered environments. Working at our Line Following robot by implementing algorithms and upgrades on our robot's design to achieve a better result each time was our main job.
Our win at the Robotex’15 Competition made us really happy and we were really excited after having worked so hard to represent our University (University of Patras, Greece) at an International Robotics Competition. Finally, this competition aimed in gaining experience and great motivation to continue upgrading our robots setting each time to a higher standard."
iRobot Sumo 2015 winners Regards Ugis & Toms Bergfelds share their success story.
It was second-year robot iBird competes in ROBOTEX. iBird is one of the romba sumo robots designed by "Robotu Skola" engineers and sumo robot builder enthusiasts.
Despite all Romba sumo robots follow the same design base it has a flag assembly as extra. Perhaps the key success factor is the perfect weight balance which ensures maximum torque.
The greatest challenge was fighting Lithuanian "turbo fan" robots. It was tough and spectacular. At ROBOTEX 2015 looks like iBird had more stability, right placement on the ring and bit more luck of course."
